Brandon experienced a life-changing moment in January 2023 when he suffered a heart attack while playing ice hockey. Being a young man with a healthy lifestyle, he realized that his heart health issues were likely related to genetics. Together with his wife, Brandon has been actively seeking ways to better understand his health situation and the factors that contributed to his heart attack.
The local Future of Medicine health screening in Cleveland sparked his curiosity about clinical research. Brandon took advantage of the opportunity to get tested for elevated Lp(a), an inherited risk factor for heart attack. “I would imagine these types of events are what drive the science towards solutions,” he explains.
He believes that research is crucial in finding effective solutions for heart diseases. He hopes that by participating in health research, he can help others like himself prevent heart health issues in the future.
